INDICATIONS OF A ROOF LEAK

A roof leak doesn’t always announce itself with water pouring through the ceiling. Most of the time it shows up quietly — a water stain on the drywall, a damp smell in the attic, shingles that look fine from the street but have been letting moisture in for months. In Calgary, freeze-thaw cycles put roofs through serious stress every season, and small vulnerabilities can turn into real damage fast if they’re not caught early.

The tricky part is that roof leaks have a lot of different causes and they don’t all look the same. Damaged flashing, cracked or missing shingles, ice damming, worn-out sealant around vents or skylights — each one needs a different fix, and guessing wrong wastes time and money.

At Marku Roofing Repair, Kristjan and his team have seen every version of this across Calgary rooftops and we know what to look for, where to look and what it’s actually going to take to stop it.

Is Your Home At Risk?

Catching a roof leak early is the difference between a straightforward repair and a full replacement. The longer water gets in, the more it works its way into the decking, insulation and drywall, and what started as a minor fix becomes a much bigger job. If you’re seeing water stains, noticing a damp smell in your attic or just have a feeling something isn’t right up there, don’t wait on it.

Call us at 403-700-7542 or fill out the contact form and we’ll get one of our Calgary roofers out to take a look. We’ll inspect the roof, tell you exactly what we find and give you a free estimate on the spot. No runaround, no upselling you on work you don’t need.

ATTIC RAIN

Attic rain happens when warm, moist air gets trapped in your attic and freezes against the cold roof deck. In Calgary’s climate, this is a common problem and it tends to go unnoticed until the temperatures rise and all that frost melts at once. Check for frost buildup, icicles forming inside the attic space or damp insulation. Poor ventilation is usually the root cause and it needs to be addressed before it does serious damage to your structure.

Signs Of EVIDENT WATER STAINS

Brown or yellow stains on your ceiling or walls are almost always a sign that water has been getting in somewhere above. The stain itself isn’t the problem, it’s the trail left behind by a leak that’s already been working its way through your roof and insulation. By the time it shows up on your drywall, the source is often well up the roof. Getting it looked at quickly limits how much damage spreads before the repair is done.

Is Your CEILING SAGGING OR BULGING?

A ceiling that’s sagging or bulging has water pooling behind it and that’s a situation that needs attention the same day you notice it. The weight of trapped water can cause a section to collapse and the longer it sits, the more it soaks into surrounding materials. Peeling paint and bubbling wallpaper are earlier warning signs that often show up first. If you’re seeing any of this, call us before it gets worse.
